01/22/16 We are free! The day has come for Brenda's Christmas trip, Lake Charles Louisiana and a weekend at Lauberge.
So what is there to do in Lake Charles besides gamble and the casino that we are staying? We discovered the answer to this question after checking in at the hotel (it was actually on the agenda). Did you know that Lake Charles has a Mardi Gras Museum? Located in downtown Lake Charles, the Mardi Gras Museum of Calcaseu Parish shares space with the Arts and Humanity Council inside a the restored Central School.
The museum is very affordable and a bargain at five dollars. Filling four rooms of past Mardi Gras costumes and memorabilia, this place is a hidden treasure in Lake Charles. The museum has simple animated manikans throughout which would with audio which provided inormative snippets about the Calcaseu Mardi Gras.
The rest of the evening has light activities or really no activities except dinner, the Le Beaucoup Buffet. The real treat of the evening is the ability to hang out with one another and converse without interruptions from the kids or without having to stop what we are in the middle of doing to answer the call from one of the children. This is the true treat of the weekend.
