London: A Palace, an Abbey and Churchill

Today same method of transportation, the Original London Tour buses, and the same bus stop, but today we would be traveling the blue line that would take us to our destinations. Our first destination was Kensington Palace, where the royals live.

After visiting Kensington Palace back to the bus, but wait, what is this, the bus is offline until 1pm (15 minutes to wait). As the workers finish their lunch inside the bus. I didn't realize that the hop on hop off bus had a regular schedule. Wow! This really did not sit well with me, that my time was now dependent on the the bus drivers. Did not read anything in the brochure about this lunch break. Okay I'm over it as the bus starts and we begin to move.

As we get closer to our next stop, traffic comes to a stand still, we "hop off" the bus at an un-scheduled stop, only to discover that there was some sort of accident causing the delay in traffic. We would walk to the Chapel from here but first lunch.

We had been seeing these places called Pret A Manger, all over town, so we decided to try this place for lunch. Neat place. All food was already prepared, mostly cold foods like sandwiches but also hot food like sandwiches or soups. You pick up your food and pay. That's it, no ordering just pick up from the case, pay then eat. Quick and easy!

Our next stop was Westminster Abbey, where all the coronations have taken place and seventeen royal weddings and countless kings and queens buried among other famous people like Charles Darwin, Sir Isaic Newton, and Charles Dickens, just to name a few people.

Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures inside the church. It was fascinating to walk through the church where others from history have been before; Princess Diana, Churchill, the Queen, the list goes on.

But alas, the church was closing and we had to get to our last stop before they closed. The Churchill War Rooms.

The War Cabinet

The door from 10 Downing Street

The Chiefs of Staff Meeting Room

There was so much to see about this man's life and his contribution to England, but this museum focused on his life during war times and post war career, where he had the most impact to the country. So much to see, but we were tiring out and still had a long way back to our house and they were closing.

Off we went to find the tube that would take us home. Today was a very tough day on us all with the transportation mishaps, the weather being rainy and cold, and personalities being foul, it was good to get this day behind and move on. Not our best day of the trip!
